Christians Need to Stand Up and Do Something Starting Now |
|
|
|
Is it right to be angry about certain issues? Is it right to get involved in protecting your freedoms? Is it necessary? Absolutely! Christians need to get off their backsides and start doing something before it is too late. Our freedoms are being taken away every day we sit by and feel frustration but do absolutely nothing to fight back. There is an important video listed at the end of this article, which every Christian needs to view and pass on to everyone on their email list. Then they need to subscribe to grassroots organizations for email alerts and write their representatives regularly every chance they get. This is the minimum a Christian to do.
Do you feel angry about certain issues?
Contrary to popular Christian belief, it is biblical to feel righteous
indignation (yes, I mean anger). There are two words in the Bible which
are translated as "anger" or some variation of that such as the word
"wrath". Both words are used in the Bible to describe anger which God
feels. There is the word "orge" which is a feeling of what one might
call righteous indignation. The other word is "thumos" which indicates
a more agitated condition of the feelings. Ogre is less sudden in its
rise but is more lasting in nature. Thumos on the other hand, rises
suddenly like a white hot heat, but dissipates. Thumos is sometimes
translated as "wrath" in the Bible. Both terms are used of God's anger
directed toward various issues, event, and people. Many Christians
believe that anger is wrong, but that is not the case. Even Christ felt
anger in the Gospels towards the attitudes of certain people. What
determines whether or not we are justified in feeling anger is
determined by the causes or motives of the anger and what we do with
it. I have a right to feel angry, for example when I see injustice in
the world. I have a right and obligation before God to remedy that
injustice if I can. I also have a right and obligation to speak out
against immorality I see. I have a right to speak out when I see
militant homosexuals attempting to pervert our children by the so
called training being instituted in our schools under the label
"diversity sensitivity training". I have a right to feel anger and
speak out and protest against the attack on our family values by moral
reprobates. Christ commanded us to love people, not their sin. I also
have a God-given right and mandate to fight the onslaught of corruption
and immoral laws being passed in this country. This right is not just
given to me by the first amendment. It was listed as the first
amendment because it was recognized by our founding fathers as a
GOD-GIVEN RIGHT TO ALL MEN!
Anger is not hatred
I think many people have the misconception that to feel anger is the
same as feeling hatred. That is not the case. As any parent knows, a
person can feel anger at something their child does, but not hate the
child. I can be angry with an issue such as injustice or blatant
immorality without feeling hatred for the person committing the
injustice or immorality. The Bible teaches there is a difference
between feeling anger and hating. To be effective in Christian
activism, we need to be able to distinguish between anger and hatred.
It is our anger at situations and issues which is necessary for
motivate us to right the wrongs in our society. Without the right kind
of anger, we will be apathetic to the social and moral ills of our
society and nation.
Indifference is our biggest enemy
This country has gone to the dogs for the simple reason that Christians
have sat idly by while the humanistic, liberal, and immoral sector of
our society has taken over. It has happened because we have not been
faithful in fulfilling the Great Commission and thereby keeping this
nation a Christian nation. And please don't feed me that history
revisionist garbage that we never were a Christian nation. People who
try to feed you that line of bull, in my opinion, rank right along side
those people who say the Jewish holocaust never happened. For decades
now, we have been composed of generations of people raised with the "me
first" philosophy. This humanism began invading the school systems back
in the 1940s with John Dewey's style of philosophy. It flourished
during the 60s and 70s as atheistic and humanistic college professors
spewed forth their venom against Christianity and moral standards. Now
we have a whole society which has been brainwashed with this atheistic
and immoral "anything goes" mentality.
We are to be Salt and Light
Salt is used as a metaphor for a preservative. It is used to prevent
rot and decay from setting in. It is also used as a flavoring to add
zest and life. The sad situation we Christians now find ourselves is
due to the fact that we have lost our saltiness as Christ described it.
Salt can be made salty again if the impurities are removed. Christians
in this day, have allowed themselves to absorb the philosophies of the
world system and have therefore lost their ability to preserve society
and infiltrate it with moral and Christian influence. Because of our
neglect, we have allowed the rot to set in and been unable to give our
society the Christian flavor it needs so desperately.
Some Christians are making a difference
There are grassroots Christian organizations attempting to stem the
tsunamic tide from washing away every vestige of decency and morality
in this country. The problem is that it appears we are attempting to
close the gate after the cows have gotten out. Because we have not
insured this remained a Christian country by fulfilling the Great
Commission to evangelize, we now have to use the court system just to
try to maintain our own liberties as Christians. In addition, these
courts are being overseen by judges educated in the anti-Christian
climate of the schools and universities we allowed humanism to
infiltrate. This situation sounds to me like a good plot for a book
entitled, "While Christian America Slept". While we were complacent,
anti-Christians took over the country. We have only ourselves to blame.
It is true that the Bible predicts this happening in the end times. My
question is, "Was it necessary for it to happen in America?". I think
not. I feel it was only our complacency which allowed it here.
Organizations like American Family Association (AFA) are making a
difference. Through their email alert system, their constituents have
managed to bring about change in some areas. One such example is that
some big corporations have changed some of their policies advocating gay
rights due to boycotts instigated by members of AFA. It is a continuing
battle, but there are victories for Christians. It does make a
difference when enough Christians get involved in Christian activist
organizations like AFA.
What Do We Do Now?
Every day you will find news articles about Christians being prosecuted
in this country for their religious beliefs and stand. You won't find
it in the mainstream media. You will have to search the Internet for
such news. Yes, even a complete moron knows these days that our major
news media is controlled by Christian-hating liberals. Look what
happened in Russia. After the Communist takeover in the early part of
the twentieth century, Christians were persecuted for 70 years. Then a
short time of liberation came where that country allowed the Gospel to
be spread. Now Russia is again beginning to close it's doors to
religious freedom. If you are unaware of this situation, it is because
you have not kept yourself informed. The same thing is happening to
America. We are loosing more of our freedom each day. Pastors are
afraid to preach against sin, for fear of being prosecuted for so
called hate crimes. Hate crime laws are being used to squelch any talk
against immoral behavior and lifestyles.
Our loss of freedom is being accelerated each and every day. There is
no such thing as standing still in the Christian life. If your are not
growing each day, you are going backwards. The same principle applies
to our freedoms and liberties. Each day we stand by and do nothing,
more of our rights and liberties are being taken away. It's time to
stem this flow toward dictatorialship and immorality.
Start Protecting Your Freedom and Liberty Today
Here are some steps each of us needs to start doing if we are to have any hope of surviving as Christians in this nation.
1. Start Growing as a Christian. If you are lackadaisical and
complacent about your Christianity, you won't become involved in
protecting your freedoms. You will take them for granted until they are
taken away. Then you will realize how important they were, but it will
be too late. If you are not committed enough to spend a few hours a
week in getting involved, then you don't see the importance of this
issue or don't have your priorities correct. Reading your Bible and
praying daily is not only necessary to grow as a Christian, but is also
necessary to escape the mental and spiritual stagnation which causes a
person to be blind to their situation. Right now there is hope to
change the direction our country is going. If we don't change things
now, it will soon be too late.
2. Join Christian-based organizations which are involved in Christian
activism on political and moral issues. Activism does not necessarily
mean violent activism. I think many people misunderstand this term. A
lot of people associate activism with violent demonstrations we saw in
the 1960s and beyond. There are other types of activism in which you can
be involved. The civil rights movement lead by King in the 60s and
those by Gandhi in India brought about social reforms. These were
social movements. By using these examples, I am not promoting social
theology. We won't protect and advance our cause by social activism,
but by religious activism. It is religious freedoms and our freedom of
speech we need to protect. It is only by protecting these freedoms that
we will have a right to believe as we choose and a right to tell others
what we believe.
3. Sign up for email alerts at these Christian-based organizations.
When you receive an alert, sign the petition or send an email to your
representative concerning the issue involved.
4. Financially support these Christian organizations. Read their
website to keep updated on current events. Search their links page for
related organizations to join.
5. Spread the word of what you are doing and the organizations you are
supporting. Send alerts you receive to others on your email contact
list who are interested in being involved. These types of organizations
and campaigns are built by word of mouth and email. If you have a
website, post links to these organizations and related articles. Get
the word out. The more Christians supporting and involved in these
organizations, the better the chance of our success in protecting our
freedoms as Christians and Americans.
6. Copy and paste this article and send it in an email to all your
friends and family members. (You can click on one of the little icons at the top of this page to the right of the title.) Post it on your website if you have one. I
am making it public domain so you can print it, email it, or distribute
it any way you can in order to get out to as many Christians as
possible.
